AL THURAYA RED SEA
Love scuba diving more than anything? Want to see the best of the south but looking for a relaxing week. Combining Sataya Dolphin Reef, Daedelus/Elphinstone & the beautiful Fury Shoals is aa amazing route with a colourful coral garden, light shimmering caverns, (small) wrecks, great chance to see big wild life and of course, swimming with the wild dolphins.
We offer 3 guided dives per day and this gives you time to relax and join the yoga and meditation or treat yourself with a reiki healing session. All is included and offered by us.We want to make this week a magical experience both underneath and above the surface.
We really really love diving...
...but also to relax, enjoy, and not sleep through, all the surface time. Our itinerary for the week is: (Se the detailed itinerary plan lower down.)
Marsa Alam - Daedelus - Sataya - Fury Shoels - Marsa Alam
A dream of ours for a long time has been to create the same beautiful atmosphere as we have on our Sataya Retreats with a traditional diving Safari. But with a slightly more relaxed approach to the schedule. A program where we can give som room for all the beautiful conversations and relaxing with yoga, meditation and Reiki Healing.
Of course there is always room for an extra dive if you and your buddy feel like you just can't sit still if you don't get to breathe some more compressed air 😉.
We want to make your week as relaxing as we can, embracing the beautiful surroundings. Even if you are not in to yoga, just lying on to deck, listening to meditation music and letting your nervous system calm down. Doing some soft stretching and watching the amazing night sky is an amazing feeing. Or why not start the day with some mediation and breathing exercises to get your energy flowing.
And have you ever tried meditation before diving? If you are an instructor or dive master this can also be beautiful tools to pass on to your students when they feel anxious.
So what about the diving?
We have planned to have some action and we hope to be lucky with the sharks, but also some relaxing dives in one of the most beautiful dive sites in the Red Sea. We will stay one night in Sataya, to get a chance to swim with the amazing spinner dolphins.
Most of the dives on Daedalus are drift dives along amazing deep walls covered by beautiful coral. Here you can see various species of oceanic sharks like the curious Oceanic Whitetip Shark, Schooling Hammerhead, Manta Rayes as well as Grey Reef Sharks and even the very rare Depth: Deep diving, 25-40m Current: Strong. Minimum amount of dive you need to dive here is 30 logged dive.
Dive Sites of Fury Shoals
Fury Shoals is famous for unspoiled and beautiful reefs with big table corals and colorful soft corals. The huge hard coral formations makes you feel like you have entered another planet. Anemones, Napoleon, Octopus, White Tip Reef Sharks, Barracudas, Giant Trevallies, Tuna and Dolphins are common among the wildlife and if we are lucky we get a visit by a Whale Sharks from time to time.
is a small reef with amazing swim-throughs. Conditions are usually good here and make for easy diving. Maximum depth of around 25m. You find beautiful caves and caverns with lights playing like from a fairytale. Very often we see a baby shark here in a shark nursery.
Abu Galawa Soraya
is a doughnut shaped reef with an amazing coral garden located in the middle. This is a great place to go critter hunting looking for Nudibranchs, Shrimp, Scorpionfish and Octopus. Once you venture outside of the coral garden keep and eye out for larger marine life like turtles and white tip reef sharks. Marie's absolute favorite dive spot in the south (or in the whole world she say ;) ) is Abu Galawa Kebir. A small Chinese tug boat is located here covered with corals. She say it looks like an aquarium boat. You can swim in to it if you like. Marin life you can find here is turtles, rays and octopus. Maybe begin with the wreck and ending up with some great swim-throughs at the end. There is also a "Nemo World" here, worth staying a while for.
Sha'ab Sataya or Sataya Dolphin Reef
is a beautiful under water lagoon and the playground for large pod of spinner dolphins. They are very curious and happy to play with us. Al Thuraya is very passionate about approaching them with gentleness and respect and we don't chase them. We try to feel their energy and mood and only go in the water when we feel like they are inviting us in.
Sataya is one of the best destinations not only for snorkeling but also explore the underwater by diving. You will have the chance to explore cavens, tunnels, coral gardens and even amazing drop-offs. The marine life in Sataya reef is excellent with schooling fishes of all types. Shark season has started and we hope we can go down and enjoy these amazing animals.
